Professional Summary

Ilene is the Vice President of the California State Board of Education. She was appointed in 2011 to the board and elected by her peers in 2013 to become the Vice President. She is currently serving her third term in that position. In this role Ilene works on curriculum development, common core and analyzing California's national standings. She is also a lecturer at UCLA School of Education and Information Studies, as well as the President of Dynamic Education, LLC. Their focus is to provide professional development for secondary leaders in the field of education. Ilene attended UCLA as an undergraduate and completed a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology. She continued her education at California State University where she completed a Masters Degree in educational administration. Her doctorate was an Ed.D., which she received from the University of Southern California in the area of Educational Leadership. Ilene has always wanted to be a teacher and believes that her commitment to her own education is a large reason for her success. She strives to always use the best practices available and emphasizes the importance or transforming knowledge into action. Because of her knowledge and experience she is often asked to speak at an array of events. She recently spoke at the Gifted and Talented Conference in Palm Springs and will be returning there to speak at the California Math Conference, where they will be discussing national reform. When asked about highlights throughout her career, Ilene stated that she was proud of the network of successful people that she has trained.
