Hal Thorne is Chairman and CEO of GSky Plant Systems. GSky Plant Systems, Inc. designs, installs and maintains vertical interior and exterior green walls. Hal speaks frequently in regards to living green wall systems, their benefits and how they work. He holds an MBA from Northeastern University and a BA in International Relations from The Johns Hopkins University. GSky’s green wall systems include Pro Walls primarily installed outdoors; Versa Walls designed for indoor use utilizing potted plants; and Basic Walls, a vine screening system where design is not critical and larger, taller projects are contemplated. GSky will soon have products based upon proprietary technology targeted to home and small business use bringing plants indoors. Their installations can be found in North America, the Middle East, Europe and Australia. For 25 of his 35 years of professional experience, Hal worked with Pioneer Hi-Bred International, the largest seed genetic company. He was responsible for business development and licensing some of the first genes to be commercialized in crops throughout the world. Later, Hal stepped into the position of Global VP for Sales and Marketing. His expertise is in finance, sales, marketing, business development, business strategy, business negotiation, and operations management. Having grown up as an athlete, he attributes much of his success to being disciplined, learning from failure, and maintaining a team-player attitude.
