Professional Summary

My father was a original member of the National Cowboy Hall of Fame, a Commissioner of Game and Fish for NM, who saw to it Smokey the bear was taken to be an emblem for fire safety...We had taken all of our equipment, grader, bulldozer, etc to help fight the fire in the Capitan Mountains,in Lincoln county, where Smokey came from. When he was brought down from the fire by the National guard, I was given Smokey to hold. His little paws were burned..He later was sent to Washington D. C. I was maybe nine years old...The ranch was also located in Lincoln County..The family was coming home from Corona, 25 miles away, one night after my dad had attended a school board meeting, and Holt and I were asleep in the back seat. Mother and Dad woke us up because they had seen a great light off to the east of the ranch. It was the night the alien space craft landed on a neighboring ranch. My dad went to find where it had gone down, the next day, and came home with the information indeed it was a space craft, which very soon we were told it was a weather balloon. I am now writing a book about my experiences on the ranch and the history, which many items were given to the NM Ranch and Farmers Heritage Museum in Las Cruces, NM, and are kept in the archives...
