Professional Summary

Stephen Moore is the executive director of student success at the University of the Virgin Islands. While his current title is executive director, his work focuses on vice-provost and vice-president-level leadership. He is responsible for student support services and programs on three campuses of St. Thomas (STT), St. Croix (STX), and St. John (STJ) and first-year programs, including the freshman development seminar, honors program, summer bridge, university bound, campus wide retention planning, learning center and operations in the learning center on STT and the math and science enrichment center, writing center, and learning center on STX. In addition, he oversees the success of students and expands the global area for recruiting students and lectures at faculty and student workshops. Stephen received a master’s of instruction, design, development, and evaluation, a master’s of business administration from the School of Management, and a doctorate of instructional design for development and evaluation, all from Syracuse University. He possesses a reputable level of expertise in leadership development, academic advising, and curriculum development and lecturing. Prior to his foray into the university world, he owned an education and consulting firm where he conducted needs, assessments, and provided professional development of various individuals and groups for more than 14 years. Stephen’s leadership service and contribution has been the primary focus of his life and career for the past 30 years. He received the Faculty Award for Strategic Management of Human Resources from Syracuse University School of Management in 2000 and the Outstanding Academic Advisor Award from the State University of New York for the 2008-2009 year. His goal at this time is to seek assistance, training, and mentoring in order to prepare for a president-level contribution. Stephen feels success means caring about the people with whom he works.
