Professional Summary

Sergio Duran is the Chief Technology Officer for Knowtion - a new company that he has been with in this position since 2012, near its foundation. When computers were just starting to enter the marketplace 35 years ago, he developed an interest in learning more about them. At the time, only mainframe computers were used by large companies. The company's current focus is Mexico's national Healthcare sector, and Sergio oversees an IT team who each work on different aspects of the software program he developed for Hospitals. Sergio works to ensure that the software application meets their specific needs. He must find the proper technology to use, design and build the software application to sell, develop the system and application, and define the language and platform to be used. The application's purpose is for clinical use, to schedule patient appointments with doctors, surgery and procedures, record medications prescribed for each patient and any other needs of the hospital. His love of his profession is evident and Sergio attributes his success in this field to two things that he considers in designing an application: 1) How do you develop the software so it can be easily updated, and 2) How the technology is designed and whether it can be used elsewhere. With these things in mind from its inception, he can include some operation, cost effectively at the start, to achieve that goal as needed, and changes can be made incrementally. His greatest achievement is the projects he worked on earlier in his career that went into production, and many of which are still in production more than 10 years later. His goal is to have his software application impact Mexico in a positive way in society by having more medical information, resulting in better health of the people. Previous to this company, Sergio have been designing and developing software for important companies in different sectors like financial, retail, industrial and entertainment. Some activities that Sergio greatly enjoys are traveling and mountain climbing; he has climbed in Argentina and Peru. He has three boys who also keep him very busy as well.
