R. Randall Rainey is a native of Houston, Texas. He is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, of Loyola University School of Law (New Orleans) and Yale Law School. He holds two graduate degree in theology. After graduating from college in 1974, he entered the Society of Jesus and was ordained a Catholic priest in 1987. He earned an LL.M from Yale Law School in 1988 and a S.T.M. from the Jesuit School of Theology at Berkeley in 1989. He was a professor of law at Saint Louis University (1990-1995) and was Senior Fellow and Director of the Public Discourse and Common Good Project at the Woodstock Theological Center at Georgetown University (1995-1997). He left the Jesuit order in 1999 and moved back to Houston to start his business career. After being in private practice for several years, he became Senior Vice President for Corporate Performance Management at Crown Castle International (NYSE: CCI). He subsequently founded Philanthropic Consultant, LLC in 2003, a major gifts consulting firm for non-profits. In 2005, he founded and is currently CEO of Capital Management Advisors LP, a closely-held private wealth management firm. In 2015, he launched CMA Energy Fund I LP, a private equity energy fund. He married in 2002, has two beautiful step-daughters, and four grandchildren. He and his wife Sandy are members of Saint John Vianney Catholic Church. Mr. Rainey served on the parish finance council since 2006 and is past Co-Chair of the Planned Giving Committee of the Development Board of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston, and was Chair of its Strategic Panning Subcommittee. He served as member of the Board of Trustees of Spring Hill College in Mobile, Alabama, and was a member of the Board of Directors of the Jesuit Volunteer Corps of the South.
