Mark Happe leads 250 employees as the President, Chief Compliance Officer and Chief Risk Officer for MMC Securities (formerly, Marsh & McLennan). Mark, a trained attorney, has more then 25-years of experience in securities regulatory and compliance. In his role at MMC Securities, he developed a multicultural corporate compliance program, culturally adjusted for each of the more than 100 countries in which MMC Securities does business. Mark works in partnership with executive management and global counterparts to ensure minimization of risk and maximum performance of staff. Mark has a wonderfully, unique mix of experience combining varied governmental and private securities regulatory experience that is both domestic and international. Mark said many years ago friends who were public servants in New Jersey (State Troopers) inspired him to want to use his education and abilities to serve as a public servant. He researched the matter and saw that he could accomplish this goal if he worked for the Securities & Exchange Commission (SEC); therefore, he went to law school with that focus in mind and he joined the SEC immediately upon graduation. Thereafter, he naturally moved into private securities areas and attained his unique combination of skills and experience. Mark sees laser focus, discipline, strategic thinking, self-awareness, flexibility, multicultural knowledge and his participation in endurance activities (i.e. marathon runs) as keys to success. Mark sees his greatest professional achievement as the work he did to "stand-up" MMC Securities and keep it running so well. He is also proud of the work he did that saved his company more than $2 million dollars a year on licensing activity and the money he saved managing the budget dedicated to paying for outside counsel. He is now looking for new challenges and plans, in the next 3 to 5 years, to work in global regulatory affairs or relationships involving international travel for either a public or private organizations. Mark wants to connect with members to exchange knowledge and information (business intelligence) so that he can explore new opportunities related to his future goals.
