DR. CARL KALANI BEYER - NATIONAL UNIVERSITY DEAN OF THE SCHOOL OF EDUCATIONDr. Carl Kalani Beyer is currently the Dean of the School of Education at National University with the rank of Full Professor. Dr. Beyer has been with National University for almost two and a half years, leading a faculty of 93 full time faculty spread across four departments: the Teacher Education, Special Education, Educational Administration, and School Pyschology and School Counseling Departments. Prior to being appointed as Dean, he was the Associate Dean of the School of Education and co-Chair of the Teacher Education Department at National University and the Chair of the Teacher Education Department at Concordia University at Chicago. He came to higher education after a 35 year career in public education, where he taught mathematics (2 years) and social studies (32 years) at Palatine-Schaumburg Townships High School District 211 in Illinois. During his last six years of teaching, he earned an administrative certificate, serving as chair of the Social Studies Department, and earned the Illinois Master Teacher Certificate as the result of being successful in completing the assessments for National Board for Professional Teaching Standards. His research interests are in multicultural education, Native American education, andthe history of education for Hawaiians. Besides having multicultural articles, book reviews of Native American and Hawaiian education, and articles on topics related to the history of education for Hawaiians, his recent publications include the following: Lost Generations: A Boy, A School A Princess (Book Review) published by The Hawaiian Journal of History and “The Connection of Samuel Chapman Armstrong as Both Borrower and Architect of Education in Hawai'i,
