Dieter E. Kaufmann is Professor, Director of the Institute of Organic Chemistry at Clausthal University of Technology. Dieter has broad experience spanning more than two decades in applied chemical research and industry development. Dieter received his Doctoral degree from the University of Gottingen, 1995, and has numerous publications and patents in the following fields: strained systems, organo-metallic chemistry, homogenous catalysis, heterocyclic chemistry, development of libraries of bioactive compounds (plant protection; pharmaceutical chemistry), asymmetric synthesis, material science (OLEDs, glues), natural materials (wood, plant fibres, hybrid systems). Dieter’s interest in this field began in high school when he designed a lab and became excited about the industry. Now, he is an active member of the German Chemical Society and the American Chemical Society. He lectures frequently and actively seeks to acquire new projects from state companies. Dieter speaks German, English and conversational French. His favorite pastimes include water sports, sailing, rowing, diving, spending time in nature and reading.
