Cyurs Karimi is a dynamic, successful search engine marketing and digital strategy executive with over 16 years experience in SEO, SEM and Social Media Marketing. For the past two and a half years, he has worked with Media Horizons, Inc. where he was recently promoted to VP, Search and Affiliate Marketing for the company. In this role, he oversees Media Horizons’ search and affiliate marketing capabilities, manages a team of search marketing professionals with a client roster that cuts across both B2B and B2C verticals, business related activities, operations, training employees, and managing Google AdWords campaigns. His area of expertise is new business outsourcing, P&L, affiliate marketing management, paid search (organic or SEO) and blending of a lot of knowledge in the search space accrued over the past 16 years working with Google, which has been around in tandem with his career, as well as mining new business by determining and presenting clients with what they really need. He is also Google AdWords Certified. Cyrus graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing from UMass Boston in 2000. He has been involved with SEMPO, was part of 212NYC, and is looking to get involved with more networking and professional associations. He also speaks some Spanish. Originally, Cyrus was an elementary education major and in their program—they threw you into the field during your freshman year to see how you'd like it, and he liked it quite a bit. But most of the teachers suggested he get involved with the burgeoning internet industry. So he took business courses and discovered that he really enjoyed the people aspect of marketing performance and the alignment involving all things people. He has worked with Story Worldwide, where he was Global Director, Audience Generation Strategy, and held senior search positions at Publicis Modem, imc2, Monster.com and Havas. Going forward, Cyrus would love to be a partner of his current agency or start his own. Earlier on in his career he had his own practice for a while, which he sold in 2003. The key to his success thus far has been always adapting to the constant changes with Google, which has continued tweaking everything; Cyrus believes that forces you to re-learn many aspects of your job and constantly keep up to date with the ever-evolving industry. He is keen to network with other professionals who may be in need of true expertise for their digital media programs and recognizes that there are unique experiences people bring to the table to leverage. He wants to apply these valuable nuggets of knowledge and experience to people. When he's not working, Cyrus enjoys sports and keeping active, especially running, hiking, basketball and obstacle courses. He also supports different fundraising races for breast cancer, diabetes, and Parkinson's disease.
